Overview of Booking Terms & Conditions
A 20% deposit is required to secure your booking.
If the booking is cancelled less than 28 days before arrival then a charge equal to 100% of the stay will be made.
If the booking is cancelled 28 or more days before arrival, the deposit will be returned in full.
A £100 security deposit is also required, which is refundable upon satisfactory vacation of the house and is a safeguard against significant damages, losses or additional cleaning. The refund will be made within 7 days of your departure date.
The lead booker must be 25yrs or over. We allow groups of travellers, but, as there are other properties at Rowden Court, please no rowdy parties.
Check-in is from 16:00hrs, check-out is by 10:00hrs.

Accessibility
As Old Engine House is a historic building, it does not align with modern standards on accessibility. Although there is level access to the kitchen entrance, there are two internal steps between the kitchen and rest of the ground floor, and the bathroom is located on the first floor. Therefore, the property is unsuitable for wheelchair users and those with significant mobility impairments.
Children
Children of all ages are welcome at Old Engine House. Children should be included in your booking as they count towards the occupancy level. In addition, there is a travel cot available for babies/ small toddlers. A high-chair is also provided.
Please note there are two flights of stairs in the property.
Dogs
We are dog owners ourselves and would love you to bring your dog(s) to share in the enjoyment of your holiday – ours certainly loves Rowden Court & South Hams! However, noting that many of our guests will be visiting without pets, it is important that we set out some ground-rules to ensure that everyone has a comfortable stay at Old Engine House.
Up to two dogs can stay at Old Engine House, free of charge. Please note that dogs must be kept on a lead in the communal gardens, and any dog mess will need to be picked up, bagged and disposed of in the communal bins.
We are lucky to have wonderful walks and beaches nearby, to enjoy in all weathers. When returning from walks with muddy dogs, please clean them off before allowing them back in the house (please bring your own “pet” towel for this purpose as none are provided) and keep your dogs in the kitchen until they are clean and dry.
If you do like your dog(s) to curl up with you on furniture, then please bring and use your own throws/towels. If required, there is a vacuum cleaner in the cupboard under the stairs.
We understand that some dogs like to sleep near their owners. We would prefer that they do not sleep on the beds, but please bring a bed cover if you are concerned that your dog will get on the bed because they are used to doing so at home.
Sadly, where damage is caused by dogs/pets that cannot be cleaned or repaired, the guests will be responsible for the costs of replacing damaged items and this will be taken out of the security deposit.
We are confident that our guests are responsible dog owners, and will treat Old Engine House as their own home.
Fire Safety
It is important to us that you feel safe and secure when staying at Old Engine House. We have a valid Electrical Installation Condition Report in place, and complete annual Portable Appliance Testing on all electrical items. We have installed an interlinked smoke detection and alarm system, and there is a fire extinguisher and fire blanket available in the property, as well as night lights with emergency back-up power and torch. There is no gas source in the property, but for peace of mind we have provided Carbon Monoxide monitors in all bedrooms.
Smoking/vaping is not permitted in Old Engine House.
Charging of electric vehicles, scooters and bikes is not permitted in Old Engine House.
These activities would invalidate our fire risk assessment and insurance.
